Jan. 27 (UPI) — Heather Dubrow is leaving Bravo series The Real Housewives of Orange County.
The 48-year-old reality star confirmed Friday in a statement to Bravo’s The Daily Dish that she won’t return to star on Season 12.
“After a lot of careful thought and deliberation, I have decided not to return for RHOC this season,” Dubrow said. “These past 5 years have been an incredible journey and I’m so proud to have been a part of such an iconic piece of pop culture.”
“I am so grateful … for all of the incredible experiences and the opportunities RHOC has afforded me and my family. However, at this point in my life, I have decided to go in another direction and do what’s best for my family and career,” she added.
Dubrow discussed her decision on her Heather Dubrow’s World podcast the same day. She admitted it “wasn’t an easy” choice to leave the show, but said “a couple things” helped her make up her mind.
“My oldest kids are now teenagers, and I just felt like they need to make their own decision about being on television and exposing their lives, and for me personally, I have some really cool, interesting opportunities that I want to explore,” the star said.
“I felt like I was at a tipping point, and just… it was time,” she added. “But, it’s all positive and I wish them all the best.”
Dubrow, who is married to and shares four children with plastic surgeon Terry Dubrow, joined Real Housewives of Orange County in Season 7. The series completed its 11th season in November.
